The History of St. Andrew's - Interior |
|
Ten round headed windows, plus a skylight at both east and west ends light the nave, allowing light to enter through the roof void above. The pews in the nave and the west gallery, probably date from the 1882 works, and all the pews are fitted with cardholders to show who had rented each one.
Until the 1920's the floor of the church was wooden, the present York stone floor being laid by Fr Kirkley as part of his embellishments.
The octagonal wooden pulpit with baroque sounding board was given by Fr Kirkley as a memorial to his brother Frank, killed in the First World War.
